serenity now
i'm so jittery today, it could be the cold, the green tea or the fact that i start my new job on monday! yes, yes, you heard right drexel hired me! God is so good - "He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting." Job 8:21our pastor challenged the congregation to read through the Bible this year, I think Mary Ruth and Richard were visiting that Sunday... new years day. i know it's not super nice to drag your new years eve guest to church... but we made it and none of us fell asleep! Anyway the theme is 66 in '06, which only looks slightly satanic :P So, I thought about how to do this. I've always thought that reading through the Bible in a year, while a good idea, wasn't as good as actually understanding what you're reading and I know reading & understanding the Bible in a year wasn't a realistic goal for me.
So, I thought about this challenge and came to an unusual solution, an audio bible. Long story short I found a podcast called the Daily Audio Bible where a guy from Nashville reads select passages every day. He reads from a different version every week, so far, and the sound is nice and clear. I listen and rewind and listen and when I want to read it myself I pick up my trusty Bible and read along. It's great because I can pause it when the phone rings or when I need to step away. I've even subscribed on iTunes and if I miss a day I just download it and listen to two days back to back. I've even listened to a couple of days more than once. I highly recommend it!
