Packing and Wrapping

I am tired, very tired of packing and wrapping - but more than that I'm tired of people. Having to deal with people's emotional manipulations and interpretations of events and their feelings and response about those events. Nothing specific mind you cause that would just tire me out even more. It's just a constant stream of... what's that stuff that floats on the top of the ocean you know that stuff... it's like flotsam and jetsam or something like that. I don't know, maybe people like the "drama" but I just can't seem to care that much.

oh well. off to VT for a nice nice vacation. so looking forward to some sleep!!

A not paid blog post

Recently I tried to add myself to the payperpost blogging minions - needless to say - I didn't get in. I don't blog enough. However, they told me that if I blog 20 posts in the next 90 days they can enroll me.

Dreaming of Home...

I know that every once in a while I get a crazy idea in my head and drive everyone around me nuts by trying to get people to buy into it. So, I'd like to introduce you to my latest and greatest and I'm feeling like I don't need that much buy in this time! Though I would love to hear your thoughts!

I want to build an Earth Sheltered Home on our land in NH. Dan's already said he thought we could do if the zoning/building codes for our town don't exclude it.

From the looks of it, we could plan a small house for a "guest house/cabin" and then taking what we learned from that build a larger one. We have a ton more hill than then did and 10 acres of trees.

Let me know what you think! I'm off to explore zoning and building codes!

DVICE: 11 fun things to do with obsolete tech

DVICE: 11 fun things to do with obsolete tech

This was my Fav!

5. Walkman iPod Case

PROJECT SITE: DVICE

WHY IT'S COOL: Just cause vinyl's back in fashion, doesn't mean all your old cassette tapes are on the verge of a comeback. It's time to let go of the Walkman that's been banging around your desk drawer since the last time Guns 'N Roses released an album. Fact is cassette players made of metal or hard plastic can take a decent lickin'. They're also pocket-size and slim. Plus, what jackass wants to steal a portable tape player? So beyond being a reliable hard case, your new Walkcase is a genius way to conceal the $400 32GB iPod Touch you just upgraded to. Crank some Sugar Hill Gang or White Snake every now and again, and no one will know the difference.

Social Media Marketing & Turkey

Some of you may know I made a Brazilian Christmas Turkey for Thanksgiving this year. It's the first time since Aunt Stephanie & Uncle Gary's Thanksgivings that I've made this and I must say it was once again a marvelous bird! If you ever want to give it a try here is the recipe. I edit the recipe a bit and ignore the stuffing, but it always tastes great! That's bacon criss-crossed on the breast and Dan says it tastes wonderful - this year we tried the extra thick variety ;)

So after the turkey my new hobby is Social Media Marketing, so I've been digging in a bit and it seems that the general public expects companies to have a presence in social media. It's so involved that if you have a small-ish company you're looking at almost have one whole person doing just social media. I have seen some automation tools, but the all get a "thumbs down" because there is no one behind them. People have to feel that there is an actual person behind your social media efforts otherwise they view responses as pushy sales tactics. It's a great area, I'm just trying to figure out how to integrate these social media marketing skills with my graphic design side :)
