Wednesday's the Day!

Isn't our new house lovely and cute! We move Wednesday, but currently we live with the flies! I feel like our house is infested with flies. The farmers are spraying manure on the fields like it's water and swarms of flies are everywhere. But I guess it's mostly my fault for leaving the back door open for 2, possibly 3, hours day before yesterday. There have been massive fly killings and still they come. I'm actually going to have to repaint some of our living room walls because there's so much fly blood on them. Disgusting I know, but Dan loves to kill and is frankly more interested in the kill than the actual clean-up.

So, I'm sure some of you missed my rambilings, I've been working on the new job thing. But that's all on hold as we're moving next week - everything is on hold, including my sanity. I had glorious plans to get the house professionally cleaned and the lawn professionally trimmed, but it looks like with the current fund shortage that we'll be doing it all ourselves. Ok - I'll probably be doing it all, but I guess that's what I'm here for :P

I've got to finish my print ads before Beth gets here. So, so glad she's coming. (file complaint for no help from hubby here and exit)

talk w/you later!

being amish (at heart)

over the past year I've noticed the Amish more than I ever have. I've followed behind their buggies, smiled at the children and visited their stands. While I haven't envied their lack of speed, I have given wistful thought to their simple way of living.

"If I were Amish..." I think to myself, "things would be simpler". It would be harder, but simpler and more honest feeling. It's the feeling I get when I drive our car, the one that's not new, the one we own outright. It doesn't matter how it looks, that it's over 10 years old, it matters that it's ours and we owe no one anything for it. It's the feeling I get when I wander out to the garden and pick lettuce for dinner (not the time I set fire to the frying pan, the other time when the stove was off).

So, maybe I shouldn't be thinking about trying to be Amish, mostly cause I'm not and that wouldn't be honest. But trying to keep that simple mindset, avoiding seeking material goods and earthly prosperity, and not minding some good honest hard work to get things done.

Don't get me wrong I'm still going to use my toaster, but just maybe I won't buy a new one when there is a new faster way to brown my bread.

wadaya know

My cousin and his wife had their first child last night - my other cousin Christi has all the stats on her blog. She's a beautiful baby and remarkable in that she's the 6th grandchild of my Aunt and Uncle but the ONLY grandchild that has not been born to my other cousin Hannah and her husband Brian:)

What would be even more remarkable would be if one of my siblings produced some off spring! My kids are so far ahead any possible kids that might come that there's no way they're going to be as close as we've been with our cousins.

I'll get the last laugh though, when one of their kids diapers explodes :D It's inevitable...I'll be there and I'll laugh.

packing up life

Last Friday we signed the lease on our new rental. It's a great little house in a nice little town in Lancaster County, PA. I'd already started to pack up around the house, toys, movies etc. and over the weekend we packed up Ri's room and Marshall's. Grama helped with Ri's as it was quite a mess! The kids beds are even disassmbled and ready to go out the door.

We even had a small garage sale on Monday - sold about 5 things, but that's 5 things we don't have to move. I think we're going to try again on this Saturday to see if we can't sell some more.

Wish I had more time to update here - but we had a great visit with Ivy, Beth, Tim, Mom and Dad on Sunday. Played speed scrabble way too much, but had soo much fun :)

Marshall started pre-school today and is probably having a fabulous time. I miss the little chatter box!

crazy week

Happy September!

Our week has been really crazy. It's been one year since we moved here and things haven't changed too much, though they will be! We sign the lease on our new house tomorrow evening. I'm looking forward to cheaper rent and praying that the heating bill doesn't just eat up the difference.

I did find gas for $2.99, after seeing it for $3.09, well so I only saved $1.60, but it's something. I just hope we can keep up with that too, although gas is the one thing you have to keep buying so you can keep making money to buy the gas. Luckily we make more money than it costs to buy gas. :P

Anyway back to work!
